Nebraska Vet Licensing

Next Renewal Deadline: April 1, 2026
Nebraska veterinary licenses renew every two years.


Licensing Cycle: Nebraska veterinary licenses must be renewed every two years. The current cycle ends on April 1, 2026, and the next cycle will run from April 2, 2026 to April 1, 2028.


Don’t wait until the last minute to renew. The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services recommends completing your renewal early. Same-day license processing is NOT available.

Quick Overview

CE Rules for Vets

  • 32 hours required every 2 years
  • All 32 hours allowed via live (interactive) online CE
  • Maximum 8 hours via self-study (non-interactive) online CE
  • At least 24 hours in veterinary medicine & surgery
  • No more than 8 hours in practice management
  • 3 hours on opiates for those prescribing controlled substances
    • ⏱️ Includes 0.5 hours on Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP)
